Many Americans Too Busy, Tired to Cook Healthy Food
After a long day at work, school or looking after children, spending time cooking food may be the last thing you want to do.
And if you just want to sink into the sofa and scroll through takeout menus because you're too tired for the kitchen — you're not alone!
In fact, according to a new survey, 77% of Americans say there are days when they're too exhausted to cook after work.
And one out of five Americans even said they've fallen asleep while cooking.
The survey — which was done by Talker Research on behalf of a US food company called Kevin's Natural Foods — asked 2,000 Americans about the way they cook.
Many people said they're too busy to cook their own meals, and they know this has an effect on their health.
When people are short on time, 42% said they have sandwiches, 37% eat fast food and 33% choose meals that can be cooked in the microwave.
"Healthy eating should be easy for even the busiest of families," said Becky Graham from Kevin's Natural Foods.
But in reality, there are lots of reasons why people find it difficult to make healthy meals — even though most people want to eat healthily.
About four in 10 people said the cost of buying healthy foods makes it hard, while a quarter of people said they don't have enough time.
The good thing is there are lots of ideas for quick, easy and healthy meals online!
