Art Exhibition For Dogs Opens In Los Angeles
In Los Angeles, there is an unusual art exhibition for an unusual crowd – dogs. At the show, four-legged art lovers can not only touch some of the art, they can sniff it, play with it, and even taste it.
The exhibition called dOGUMENTA is an art show that features many different objects that appeal to dogs. All the artwork at the exhibition was created just for pooches. Anyone who brings their dog with them can enter for free.
“Pups, like humans, each have a different taste in art... Some pups like work that they can maybe take a bite out of. Some pups like work that they can just pose in front of, and just be themselves,” exhibition curator Jessica Dawson says.
Dawson believes that dogs of any breed can appreciate art. But not all the works at the exhibition are for looking at. Some objects are meant to be sniffed and investigated.
dOGUMENTA is not the first art exhibition meant for dogs, though. The world's first art exhibition made for dogs was held in 2016 in London. It was organized by artist and inventor Dominic Wilcox.
“Just because dogs can’t speak our human language doesn’t mean they don’t feel the same emotions and enjoy seeing and experiencing new and interesting things,” Wilcox said.
