Buzz Aldrin Marries for Fourth Time on 93rd Birthday
Retired US astronaut Buzz Aldrin has married for a fourth time, on his 93rd birthday.
Aldrin wrote on Twitter that he was happy to announce that he had married his "long-time love" Dr. Anca Faur.
Faur, 63, is the executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures in Los Angeles.
Aldrin said the couple had a small wedding in Los Angeles. He shared two photographs of them in their wedding clothes on Twitter and Facebook.
Aldrin was on the famous Apollo 11 mission that let the first humans walk on the moon on July 20, 1969. He was the second person to walk on the moon, following Neil Armstrong outside after their small spacecraft landed.
Armstrong began the first moonwalk more than four days after the Apollo mission left Cape Kennedy — now Cape Canaveral — in Florida. Aldrin followed about 20 minutes later.
About 650 million people around the world watched the moonwalk on TV. At the time, it was the largest television audience ever, and Aldrin and Armstrong became global celebrities.
Aldrin was born Edwin Eugene Aldrin, Jr. in New Jersey in 1930. He was a US Air Force pilot, fighting in the Korean War, before he became an astronaut in 1963.
He officially changed his name to "Buzz" in 1988.
