Barbie 'Dumbphone' Offers Stylish 'Smartphone Holiday'
We can do so many things with the little computers we carry in our pockets — better known as smartphones!
But now there are some people who are moving away from smartphones and choosing "dumbphones" instead.
These are the sort of phones we used around the year 2000 — phones that can send text messages, make calls, and not much more.
Forget about social media, card payments and Google Maps — these dumbphones are becoming more popular among people who are tired of spending too much time scrolling.
Dumbphones have even become fashionable. And they've just gotten a whole lot more glamorous with the release of a Barbie-themed phone!
A Finnish phone company called HMD has been working with Barbie maker Mattel to create a phone for people who want to "take a holiday from their smartphone."
HMD says its pink flip phone can make calls and send texts, while it's got a 0.3-megapixel camera. The latest iPhones have a camera that's 48 megapixels.
The Barbie phone also shares self-care advice and helps people with their "digital well-being."
And in true Barbie style, there's even a mirror on the front to let users check their hair!
Gaming fans can also play Malibu Snake, based on the old Snake game on Nokia's early phones.
The Barbie phone went on sale in Europe at the end of August for about $130, and HMD says it will be coming to the US soon.
However, some people have said that, instead of making dumbphones popular again, we should be teaching people how to use smartphones safely.
