Americans Overwhelmed by Stress Three Times a Week
When someone says their "head is spinning," they don't mean that it's actually going around and around like a wheel.
But you can probably guess that having a spinning head isn't a good thing.
If your head is spinning, you might feel dizzy, confused or overwhelmed. It may be caused by stress.
And according to a new survey, the average American feels their head is spinning from stress three times a week. That's more than 155 times a year!
The most common things that cause Americans stress are money, health and family, affecting one quarter to one third of participants.
In the survey of 2,000 people done by Talker Research, 20% also said they're feeling stressed about the US election this November.
A similar number said they get stressed about events happening around the world, while 16% get stressed by work.
The survey also found that 38% of people have been more stressed in 2024 than they were in 2023, although the year has been less stressful than 2022.
More than a quarter of people said they're worried that their stress levels may increase before the end of the year.
Stress can cause a lot of different health problems. However, the survey found that many people don't take days off work because of stress.
Almost half of the people surveyed said they've never taken a day off for mental health reasons.
Experts say that if you're worried about stress in your life, you should talk to your doctor. And if you really need help right away, you could go to the hospital.
