This Collar Tells You How Your Dog Feels
A new collar from a South Korean company can tell dog owners how their pets are feeling.
The Petpuls collar records the sounds a dog makes and compares them to more than 10,000 bark recordings from 50 different breeds of dog. The collar uses that information to tell owners if their dog is happy, relaxed, anxious, angry or sad.
The company says that testing at Seoul National University has found that the Petpuls collar is correct more than 80% of the time.
Owners can check their dog's feelings by using the Petpuls app on their phones, and can see how their dog felt over a particular day, week or month. The collar and app can also tell owners how much exercise their dog is getting.
The collar is available in small and large sizes, with five different colors available. The app also lets owners create a profile for their pet and find other friends who use Petpuls.
According to a 2019 government survey, about 26% of all South Korean homes had pets. And almost 84% of pet owners had a dog.
According to British animal charity PDSA, you can also understand how dogs are feeling by looking at them. If your dog's ears are relaxed, it probably is too. But when a dog's ears are pulled flat against its head, it may be feeling anxious or even angry.
