Italian Cuisine Is World's Most Popular, Says Food Blog
It's a Friday night, you're feeling tired and hungry, and you need your favorite meal to make everything just a little better.
So what do you choose?
We all have our preferences. But according to a new study by a food website, the world's favorite cuisine is Italian.
That's right, pizza and pasta are what millions of people need on those tired Friday nights — or actually anytime at all!
In second place is Japanese food, according to the study.
A food blog called The Picky Eater used Instagram hashtags to find its answers.
The site made a list of 65 cuisines and looked at how many times each cuisine was used in a hashtag on Instagram.
It did this in 2023, and looked at all the data that Instagram had from the past as well.
Both Italian and Japanese cuisines were included in more than 20 million Instagram hashtags.
Japanese dishes like sushi and ramen have become more and more popular across the world.
Indian cuisine was third on the list, followed by Korean, Mexican, Thai and Chinese food.
The Picky Eater also looked at the most popular meals, again using Instagram hashtags.
Pizza was much more popular than anything else, with more than 60 million mentions.
Barbecue came next, ahead of brunch and sushi. Each of these was mentioned more than 30 million times by people on Instagram.
