UK Man Juggles Soccer Ball Across Frozen Lake
A British man may have set a world record by crossing a frozen lake while juggling a soccer ball with his feet, knees, chest and head.
John Farnworth, 34, spent 48 hours walking 80 kilometers across Lake Baikal in eastern Russia while juggling a soccer ball. He only let the ball touch the ground when he ate, slept or used the washroom. He even camped on the ice.
"It was so, so cold out there but I just had to keep focused and concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other," he told Blog Preston. Farnworth called Lake Baikal "beautiful," but also said the lake "certainly tested me."
Farnworth is believed to have broken the world record for the longest distance juggling a soccer ball on ice in one hour, traveling almost 5 kilometers. His effort raised about $1,300 for Cancer Research UK.
Farnworth has set many records involving soccer balls, often in extreme situations. In 2019, he crossed the Sahara desert while juggling a ball. During the trip, he set the record for the longest distance walked in an hour while juggling a soccer ball: 5.8 kilometers.
In 2018, he went 6,000 meters up Mount Everest, setting a record by climbing 197 meters in an hour while juggling a ball.
