Kylian Mbappé Makes 'Dream' Move to Real Madrid
French soccer star Kylian Mbappé has finally joined Real Madrid, after years of speculation.
Madrid said on June 3 it reached a deal with the 25-year-old for the next five seasons, bringing together one of soccer's top players and its most successful club.
Madrid did not give any financial details. It also didn't say when it will officially introduce Mbappé, who is with France getting ready for the European Championship.
Mbappé said on X it was "A dream come true."
Adding that he was "proud" and "so happy," he said: "Nobody can understand how excited I am right now."
The post, with the message written in English, Spanish and French, was accompanied by photos of a young Mbappé wearing a Madrid jacket while visiting the club.
The French World Cup winner joins a Madrid team that has just won another Champions League, its sixth in 11 seasons.
The team already includes young stars like the Brazilians Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo, as well as Englishman Jude Bellingham.
Madrid has often collected the world's best players, who are known as galacticos, meaning "world stars."
The current Madrid players were quick to welcome their newest teammate.
"Welcome to the best club in the world," forward Brahim Díaz said.
Until now, Mbappé has played club soccer only for French teams — first at Monaco and for the past seven seasons at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
He didn't sign a new contract with the Paris club and left at the end of the season in May.
The move to the Spanish capital nearly happened in 2021 when Madrid offered PSG almost $200 million for the player.
Now, it got him for free, although Mbappé will, of course, be making big money in Spain.
