Airbnb Offers Stay in Disney Witches' Cottage
Airbnb is inviting two guests to spend a night in the perfect Halloween vacation home — a witches' cottage in the woods.
The cottage is in Salem, Massachusetts, and has been made to look like the home of the Sanderson sisters — the main characters in the 1993 Disney movie Hocus Pocus, as well as the recently released Hocus Pocus 2.
Both movies are about three witches from the 17th century being brought back to life and causing lots of trouble.
And while the Sanderson sisters aren't based on anyone real, the town of Salem is probably most famous for its witch trials between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of being witches, and 20 were killed.
It's now believed the local people were probably getting sick and seeing things after eating a type of fungus that grew on their crops.
So while there were no real witches in Salem, the Sanderson sisters — played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy — are exactly what the people of Salem would have been scared of.
In their cottage, guests will find everything they might expect in a witches' home, and can even have a look at the Sanderson sisters' book of spells.
Airbnb says guests can try a spell if they want, but shouldn't expect to change anyone into a cat like the witches do in the first movie.
The cottage is available for just one night on October 20, at a cost of $31. It will be available to book on October 12. Guests will also get a tour of Salem and a screening of Hocus Pocus 2.
