Shohei Ohtani to Sell New Home After Location Revealed
Baseball star Shohei Ohtani recently bought a new luxury home in the suburbs of Los Angeles for nearly $8 million. However, he has already decided to sell the property without ever moving in.
The Los Angeles Times first revealed that Ohtani, who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers, had bought the property in May. The five-bedroom home comes with its own swimming pool, cinema, gym and sauna — but most importantly for Ohtani, it's just a 20-minute trip to Dodger Stadium.
However, after the news of Ohtani's new home came out, two Japanese TV companies, Fuji Television and Nippon TV, sent reporters to film in front of the house and showed aerial images of the property. They even spoke to people in the area who had no idea Ohtani was moving in.
Although the TV companies didn't say the address of Ohtani's new home, their reports made the location clear. It has been reported that Ohtani has said he "can no longer live there," and will now sell the property instead.
Ohtani has a reason to be worried. Robberies have been increasing in Los Angeles, where criminals have been targeting celebrities and breaking into their homes.
Last year, two of Ohtani's teammates, Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman, had their homes broken into. Muncy had his home broken into while he and his family were at Dodger Stadium. Security cameras showed two criminals in his property, but they got away before the police arrived.
Ohtani is said to be very unhappy that Fuji Television and Nippon TV gave away the location of his house, and it has been reported that he has asked both companies to return their press passes.
Fuji Television has since said sorry for its reports, but Nippon TV has not.
