Hiker Finds Pipe Supplying Water to Chinese Waterfall
Here's some life advice from the internet: "Stop trying to impress others — just be yourself."
But sometimes it's difficult to take that advice — just ask this waterfall in China.
Yuntai Mountain Waterfall is thought to be the highest waterfall in the country. Millions of tourists visit every year.
In the Henan province in the center of China, the waterfall is 312 meters high and a good place for pictures.
However, it has become famous online for different reasons, after a hiker found that the waterfall was being supplied with water from a pipe.
The news was shared millions of times on Chinese social media sites Weibo and Douyin, and local government officials were sent to the park to find out more.
The Yuntai tourism park later posted a message on behalf of the waterfall.
It said it couldn't guarantee that it would always be in its "most beautiful form" every time people visit.
It added: "I made a small enhancement during the dry season only so I would look my best to meet my friends."
Officials from the park told CCTV that the water coming from the pipe was natural spring water that would not cause any problems.
Many people on social media understood why the waterfall was being supplied with extra water.
One said it was good that visitors could still see the waterfall even during the dry season. Another said that other places do similar things at times when there is less rain.
However, some users felt that it was disrespectful to visiting tourists.
In other words: "Stop trying to impress others — just be yourself!"
