Manchester City Wins Record Fourth Title in a Row
Manchester City won a record fourth successive English Premier League title after beating West Ham 3-1 in the final game of the season.
Four clubs have won three titles in a row, but City is the first team to finish as champion of English soccer's top division four years in a row after holding off the challenge of second-place Arsenal, who beat Everton 2-1.
Two goals from Phil Foden in the first half helped Pep Guardiola's team to its latest title. Mohammed Kudus got a goal back for West Ham but Rodri scored again for City as it moved toward a sixth title in seven seasons.
Guardiola's team needed to beat West Ham at the Etihad Stadium to be certain of the title, having gone into the game two points clear at the top of the table.
Foden helped ease any nerves among the home fans by putting City ahead with a brilliant goal after just two minutes. England's "Footballer of the Year" added a second goal in the 18th minute when he scored from close range.
Kudus produced a moment of magic in the 42nd minute with a goal that might have given Arsenal hope. However, it didn’t take City long to score again after the half-time break as Rodri fired in a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.
City ended the season with 91 points — two more than Arsenal.
However, questions have been asked about City's finances. They are facing 115 charges from the Premier League for alleged financial irregularities.
The club denies it has done anything wrong.
It's not clear when a decision will be made on the charges or what any punishments could be.
The charges are serious and suggest that the club "cheated," over a long period of time, according to the BBC.
