Fans Flood London Pub Mentioned in Taylor Swift Song
If you want to advertise your business, you need to put in time, effort and money — or maybe just get a famous celebrity to talk about it!
Of course, that's not an easy thing to get. But a bar in London recently got lucky, when Taylor Swift released her new album with one song called "The Black Dog" — the name of the bar.
The bar in central London has since been visited by so many fans that staff have had to turn people away. But they're not complaining.
In fact, the bar offered a free glass of beer to the first 100 fans to walk through the door — if they could quote a line from the song.
"We're just loving it, it's been so fun," Lily Bottomley, event manager for The Black Dog, told the BBC. "All of the attention has been pretty overwhelming, but we can't be happier."
She added that the 34-year-old singer has visited the bar before, and that Swift-themed burgers and cocktails have been added to the menu.
But fans wanted more, with many asking for sweaters and other merchandise related to the song. And the bar listened — in a recent Instagram post, it said it would soon be releasing and selling Swift-themed merchandise.
"The Black Dog" is the 17th song on Swift's 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department.
The album, which was released on April 19, broke records on Spotify, becoming the first on the streaming platform to have more than 300 million streams in one day.
