Survey Finds Average Age We Stop Being Cool
Pick up your pencils, everyone. It's time for a pop quiz. Do you know what sort of jeans are fashionable this year?
Okay, try this one: who's the biggest pop star in the world right now?
Here's an easier question: what is TikTok?
How did you do with those questions? If you found them a bit difficult, then it's possible that you're "out of touch," according to a survey by polling company Talker Research!
If you're out of touch with something, it means you don't have the latest information about it.
For example, you might not know that in the world of music, Taylor Swift is a very big star, or that some people think skinny jeans aren't cool anymore!
The survey found that about 49% of Americans feel out of touch with what's cool in popular culture.
And among those who took part in the survey, on average people feel out of touch by the age of 39.
The survey company asked 2,000 people in the US to say how up to date they felt about the latest trends in things like popular culture, food, technology, fashion and slang.
People were most likely to be out of touch with modern slang and celebrities. However, they said they were better at staying "in touch" with the food world and with music.
Almost 60% of people said they were up to date with social media.
So, do you think it's important to be in touch with popular culture?
