Baseball Player Bats for Both Teams in Same Game
Here's a fact that might be useful in future sports quizzes.
US baseball player Danny Jansen has become the first Major League Baseball player to play for both teams in the same game.
In fact, Jansen even batted for both teams in the same inning.
But how did this happen?
There are two reasons: the rules of baseball and the weather in Boston.
In June, he was playing for the Toronto Blue Jays against the Boston Red Sox. But that game was suspended because of heavy rain.
The teams met to finish the game on August 26, by which time Jansen had been traded by the Blue Jays.
He had joined the Red Sox!
So by the time the game restarted, Jansen was playing for the other team.
"I was surprised when I found out I was the first one to do it," Jansen said. "It's interesting, and it's strange. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to have that."
The baseball world had been waiting for the game to see if Jansen would become the first to do it. And Red Sox manager Alex Cora was looking forward to it, too. "Let's make history," he said beforehand.
"It was a very cool moment, just to be part of it," Cora said afterward. "I don't know if it's going to happen again."
Jansen's wife and children and some friends were there to see him claim his place in baseball's record books.
The 29-year-old right-handed hitter said he wore two jerseys in the game — three, if you count the Toronto one he wore in June!
He will keep one jersey for himself and send one to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in New York.
When the game eventually ended, the Blue Jays won 4-1 — so Jansen's new team lost.
