Man Says He Broke 52 World Records in 52 Weeks
A man from Idaho says he has broken 52 Guinness World Records in 52 weeks in 2021. That's an average of one record for every week of the year.
David Rush, who has an engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, says he started breaking world records in 2015 to get kids interested in science, technology, engineering and math — or STEM.
He told ABC News that breaking records was his way of showing people they can do almost anything if they believe in themselves and set their minds to it.
Many of Rush's world records involve juggling, which he's been doing since he was about 8 years old.
Rush's 2021 records include most juggling catches — 522 — in one minute while standing on a Swiss exercise ball, and the longest time juggling three objects on a Swiss ball — 52 minutes and 18 seconds.
He said one of the hardest records to break was cutting 74 kiwis with a samurai sword in a minute while standing on a Swiss ball.
He also ran 100 meters in 16.29 seconds while juggling blindfolded. To break that record, he had to stay in his lane — which he told ABC News was almost impossible. So, he practiced for more than a year and a half until he finally got it.
Working with two neighbors, Rush ended 2021 by breaking the record for the fastest time for a team of two to wrap a person in wrapping paper.
Rush says he now has over 200 Guinness World Records — and he doesn't plan to stop breaking new ones any time soon.
