New Zealand Airport Limits Hug Times for Passengers
Airports are places of rules. Security is important, and people have to do as they're told.
But an airport in New Zealand has announced a new rule that you may not have seen anywhere else in the world.
Dunedin Airport has put up signs that limit how long people can hug when they're dropping off friends or family at the airport.
The signs say: "Max hug time 3 minutes." Below a picture of two people hugging, the signs add: "For fonder farewells please use the car park."
That means, if you need to spend a lot of time saying goodbye and hugging, you shouldn't use the drop-off area — go to the parking area instead.
The idea is to make sure that cars keep moving through the drop-off area and people don't slow things down with extra-long hugs!
The airport's CEO, Dan De Bono, told Radio New Zealand that some people have been taking too long to say goodbye, adding: "There's no space left for others."
De Bono said there won't actually be any "hug police" timing how long people hug, but the signs are there to encourage people not to spend too long hugging.
On social media, not everyone was happy with the new signs. "You can't put a time limit on hugs!" wrote one Facebook user.
However, others said it was a good idea that should be used in other airports — and even at schools!
