These Expressions Won't 'Drive You Up the Wall'
When someone upsets you or is being rude, there's nothing worse than not being able to think of what to say. So here are some good expressions for when you're upset.
If someone says or does something so upsetting that it's a surprise to you, you might say "How dare you!" For example, you could say, "How dare you steal from me! I thought we were friends."
A person can say "I beg your pardon" as a way of saying sorry when they have done something rude. But it can also be used when someone has said something that you disagree with or upsets you.
For example, if someone called your wife ugly, you could say "I beg your pardon! My wife is beautiful!"
"The last straw" is the last small thing, after many others, that makes someone become very upset.
For example, if a person keeps borrowing your things without asking, and one day you find out they have taken something you really need, you might tell them "That's the last straw!" and then lock all your things away.
If someone is "driving you up the wall," it means they are being so annoying that you wish you could get away from them by climbing up the wall.
For example, if your kids are running around the house and being loud, you might say "Be quiet! You kids are driving me up the wall with all that noise!"
