Spain Named World's Best Country for Digital Nomads
If you're free to do remote work, there have never been more places to work from!
Many countries are now happy to welcome remote workers with special "digital nomad visas."
But not all digital nomad visas are the same. So where do you get the best deal?
According to a company called Global Citizen Solutions, Spain is the number one place to go.
The company released a report in July that compared a number of different things for digital nomads across 65 countries.
These included the cost of the visa and the benefits it gives people, as well as the quality of life in the country.
Anyone from outside the European Union wanting to get a digital nomad visa in Spain needs to earn at least $2,400 per month — and 80% of this needs to come from outside the country.
People can stay for a year to start, and then they can ask to stay for longer.
Nine of the top 10 countries on the list are in Europe. The Netherlands and Norway come next, followed by Estonia and Romania.
Estonia — with its beautiful capital, Tallinn — has become a fashionable place to be. And the Wi-Fi is good too! However, digital nomads have to earn almost $5,000 per month to live there.
Canada is the only non-European country in the top 10, while Taiwan, Malaysia and Japan are also in the top 20.
Japan, which is 16th, announced its new digital nomad visa in April. It lets people stay and work for up to six months.
