Spoons and Ice Rice: Would You Try These Beauty Hacks?
If you need a spoon, some rice water and olive oil, you might be cooking an interesting meal — or you might be preparing for your daily beauty routine!
Experts and influencers all over the internet can be found offering unusual do-it-yourself beauty hacks. Here are just a few that were recently recommended to The Guardian!
Skincare expert Donna Ryan told The Guardian that spoons can be used to massage your face, neck and shoulders. She said Chinese soup spoons are best, but any spoon could work.
Ryan said she puts on a little face oil then rubs the back of the spoon on her skin — smoothly and not pushing too hard.
It can get the blood moving, help reduce tension and make you look fresh, she said.
When you wash rice in cold water before cooking it, don't throw that water away!
Instead, make that cloudy water into ice cubes that you can then use on your face in the morning. Clean your face first, then rub on the ice cubes to make your skin soft and bright.
There are vitamins and minerals in that water, and these can be good for your skin, Catarina Oliveira and Rui Liu told The Guardian. Oliveira and Liu are the founders of the German beauty brand Herbar.
Just don't put those ice cubes in your juice afterward!
If you're traveling and you've forgotten your makeup remover, you could use olive oil — or coconut oil — instead. Ruby Hammer, a makeup artist, told The Guardian that it works better than the cheap soap you'll find in most hotels.
Warm it between your hands first, then put it on your face and wash off with a wet towel. It can also be good for keeping the ends of your hair from getting too dry!
