Budget, Weather, Time: How to Pick the Right Vacation
If you have a big "bucket list" of places you've always wanted to see, choosing a holiday destination might be easy.
However, sometimes you might feel like you need a vacation, but have no idea where to go.
There are more choices than ever before — so how do you decide on just one place? There are a number of things you should think about.
The first thing is probably the most important: how much do you want to spend? Your budget will affect what sort of trip to go on. But do your research first before assuming a place is cheap or expensive — exchange rates vary, and they can make a big difference!
You'll also need to think about what you want from your holiday. Do you want to rest and do as little as possible, perhaps by a pool or on a beach? Or would you like to do outdoor activities, or go sightseeing?
Some of these things may depend on the weather. For example, you may not want to do a lot of sightseeing in the south of Europe in the middle of summer — it's very hot!
The amount of time you have is also important, especially if you're traveling a long way. If you have two weeks away from work, you may not want to spend four of the days traveling — or dealing with jet lag!
And think about your accommodation — do you need a place that offers food as part of the price, or are you happy cooking for yourself or eating in restaurants?
You should also do some research about how easy — and safe — it is to travel around the area.
The importance of this point may depend on whether you're traveling alone or with another adult, or if you're going with young children.
