Linkin Park Reunite for Tour, Album with New Lineup
The popular US band Linkin Park has released its first new music since the 2017 death of lead singer Chester Bennington.
The band has a new lineup, with singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain joining previous members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn.
The new lineup played a new single called The Emptiness Machine in a live stream at the start of September.
"This is a very special day for us," Shinoda said.
The band also announced a new album, called From Zero, which will be released on November 15.
The rap rock band was one of the most commercially successful acts of the 2000s, and was known for Bennington's distinctive vocals.
He died, aged 41, not long after the release of the group's previous album One More Light.
Since then, Linkin Park has rereleased a number of anniversary records and a greatest hits collection.
Explaining the title of the new album, Shinoda said: "Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we're currently undertaking."
Armstrong comes from alt-rock band Dead Sara, while Brittain is a songwriter and producer who has worked with Papa Roach, One OK Rock and All Time Low, among others.
He replaced original drummer Rob Bourdon, who "has decided to step away," a band representative told The Associated Press.
"The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created," Shinoda said.
Armstrong said she'd enjoyed Linkin Park's records in the past.
With tour dates running from September 11, Linkin Park fans around the world have a chance to see the new lineup play live.
The band is playing in North America, South America, Europe and Asia this autumn.
