British Band Oasis to Reunite After 15 Years Away
Oasis, the band known for hit songs in the 1990s like "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger," is reuniting for a tour of the UK and Ireland next summer.
Fans were delighted with the news of the popular group's return after a long feud between singer Liam Gallagher and guitarist Noel Gallagher, his brother.
After 15 years away, the band will play 14 concerts in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland in July and August next year.
"This is it. This is happening," the band said.
Oasis split up in 2009 after many years of feuding, with Noel leaving the band just before a performance at a festival in France.
At the time, Noel, the band's main songwriter, said that he "could not go on working with Liam a day longer."
Even before that, the brothers had a difficult relationship and it's said that they didn't speak to one another for years after the split.
While the Gallagher brothers haven't performed together since, both regularly perform Oasis songs at their solo concerts.
They've often criticized one another in the media, while Liam even sued Noel in 2009 before later dropping the lawsuit.
But now the brothers are preparing to reunite, with the band saying fans would experience "the spark and intensity" that only comes when they appear on stage together.
The band referred to the past tensions in the tour announcement.
"The guns have fallen silent," Oasis said, suggesting the brothers were no longer feuding.
The band added: "The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised."
With the announcement, the Manchester group ended a few days of fan speculation. A short video posted to the band's social media accounts on August 24 showed the date "27.08.24," and time "8 a.m." This was the moment the news was announced.
Fans will now have to hope the brothers stay friends until next summer!
