Adele Announces Break from Music
Adele fans may want to "set fire to the rain" after the British singer/songwriter's announcement last month that she will be taking a break from making music and performing
The 36-year-old musician, famous for songs like "Hello," "Rolling in the Deep" and "Skyfall," told fans that she's taking a break from music during the final show of her European tour in Munich on August 31.
During the emotional announcement, the star said she would finish the last 10 shows of her Las Vegas residency, called "Weekends with Adele," before taking a break.
Her residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace began in 2022, and will end on November 23 this year. After that, she said she won't see her fans "for an incredibly long time," explaining, "I just need a rest."
Adele rose to fame at the age of 20 with the success of her first album, which was released in 2008. Since then, the musician has released three more albums, with her second being the fourth-best-selling album of all time in the UK, behind Queen, ABBA and The Beatles.
The singer has also won many awards and performed nearly 500 concerts.
Her recent set of 10 shows in Munich, Germany, sold over 730,000 tickets in total.
When talking about the many shows she has performed over the last three years, Adele told the crowd in Munich:
"I really, really hold them in the bottom of my heart forever. It has been amazing. I just need a rest, and I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now. I want to live my new life that I've been building."
The announcement also comes after the star's recent engagement to Rich Paul, a US sports agent.
