'Fall in Love' with These Romantic Expressions
When someone finds their "soul mate" – the person who loves and understands them more than anyone else – they know that they were meant to be together. You might say they're "a match made in heaven," meaning they're perfect for each other.
But what makes a perfect couple? Some people think that "birds of a feather flock together," or that people who are similar to each other have strong relationships. However, others say that "opposites attract," meaning people who are very different from each other often fall in love.
To have a "crush" on someone is to feel attracted to them for a short time, like two schoolchildren. Some people even marry their "high school sweetheart," or the person they dated in high school.
Others fall in love "at first sight," or the first time they see each other, while others only fall in love after being friends for many years.
Some people are strangers when they start dating. A date between two strangers is called a "blind date," and it's usually planned by a friend. That friend is called a "matchmaker" because they're trying to match two people up.
However, some couples "break up," or end their relationship. But that's OK, because there are "plenty of fish in the sea." And as one writer said, "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
